The III b HAK and IV c HLW spent a week in Galway, Ireland, from 22 to 29 June. Organized by Mrs. Übermasser and accompanied by Mrs. Mitterlehner and Mr. Silbergasser, the students immersed themselves in Irish culture while visiting many of the region’s most fascinating sights. Throughout the week, they enjoyed a variety of memorable experiences, learned about the history and traditions of Ireland and created lasting memories together.

After arriving to Galway and moving in their host families’ homes on Monday 22 June, the students had the first day of language school, where they spent four days in total and had the opportunity to practice and improve their language skills.

On Tuesday there was a short orientation tour of Galway where the students got a first impression of the city and saw the most important sites like the Galway Cathedral and Eyre Square.

On Wednesday the students had an Irish dancing course where they learned different traditional dances in the afternoon. After completing the course and experiencing the dancing culture of Ireland, there was bowling on the agenda.

On Thursday the students had the day off and could spend their free time as they wanted.

The day after, the city was experienced from a boat tour on the Corrib River. The boat tour provided a different view of Galway, and the students saw different places like the University of Galway.

On Saturday both classes had a full-day trip to the long-awaited Cliffs of Moher. However, the students did not only visit the impressive Cliffs of Moher but also Dunguaire Castle, on of Ireland’s most recognizable tower house set on the shores of Galway Bay, Poulnabrone Domen, one of Ireland’s most famous prehistoric monuments, a portal tomb over 5000 years old set within the unique limestone landscape of the Burren and the seaside town of Lahinch.

For the last day in Ireland, there was another full-day trip scheduled to Connemara where the students could visit the stunning Kylemore Abbey. After visiting the impressive abbey, the students had a quick stop in the charming town of Clifden.

Overall, the trip was a great experience with unforgettable cultural and sightseeing activities. A big thank you to Mrs. Übermasser for organizing this week and to Mrs. Mitterlehner and Mr. Silbergasser for accompanying us.
